  • That sounds messy, I'm not a fan of mess. Will I enjoy the experience?
Are you not a fan of mess because you don't want to get paint on you? Or do you just not like cleaning up mess? If you're worried about getting paint on yourself: We provide ponchos, hair covers, shoe covers, safety goggles and gloves which you are welcome to use to cover you up. We also provide cloths, wipes, soap, paper towels to help remove any paint from your skin (or a child's face). Wear clothes you feel comfortable in and won't matter if it gets a bit of paint on. It's part of the experience! You won't get as much paint on your as you think. Paint is thrown at the canvas. Not at each other. Don't like cleaning up mess? We got you. We hate it too. That why we have employed people to do it for you (and us)! Come in splash paint at a canvas. Enjoy being in the moment with family, friends or children knowing this mess isn't in your home!
  • Will I get paint on me?
Probably, but it is part of fun. Safety glasses and plastic ponchos will be provided, but we recommend wearing clothes and shoes which won’t matter if they get paint on them.
  • Is this for kids or adults?
Both! Our studio caters to anyone of any age and any ability.
  • How and when do I get my canvas home?
We have a custom made take home box so that you can take your wet canvas home after your session. The box is like a pizza box, but bigger. It fits a 16"x 20" canvas inside, making it easy to take straight home or out to a restaurant after the session.
  • Do you have different sized canvases?
The canvas included in our sessions is 16" x 20" (40cm x 50cm). We offer the option for an in Studio paid upgrade to a 24 x 24", 20 x 30", 24 x 36" canvas. Our take home boxes only will fit the 16" x 20" (40cm x 50cm). You will need to return to the Studio within 7 days to collect items of a larger size. If you would like to create a piece for a specific area, with prepayment and a special order we offer even larger sizes of 30 x 40" or 36 x 48". Contact us to discuss your requirements.
  • How long are the sessions?
Sessions are 1 hour. To make the most of your time, please arrive a few minutes prior to get settled. After 45 minutes we will let you know to it’s time for your final touches, clean yourself up (and any others), box up your painting and order any custom products you would like.
  • Can I BYO food or alcohol?
Food: No, unless you have booked in for a Paint & Cake session or other private function (eg birthday parties or functions). Food and splatter paint doesn’t mix well during a 1 hour classic session. We have tried. For a Paint & Cake session or other private function food and cake can be brought along for your guests. Alcohol: The beauty of Kaboo Studio sessions is that you don't need to have alcohol to have fun! There are plenty of establishments nearby to get watered after a session. We sell a number of premium non alcoholic beverages in studio (eg beers like Heaps Normal IPA, kombucha and spritzers). We do permit a responsible amount of BYO alcohol in our BYO Permitted Sessions. Check out our session times to find out which sessions allow BYO. Please contact us for BYO arrangements for private functions/exclusive use sessions. Under 18 years of age participants are allowed into the BYO Permitted Sessions under supervision of a parent or guardian. Those under 18 are not permitted to drink alcohol at the studio.
  • We are coming as a group but booking separately will we be next to each other?
Yes! Choose to hang your blank canvases on the wall next to each other in the Studio.
  • Can I bring spectators?
No because of capacity restrictions, unless the spectator is a baby in a pram, we can’t accept spectators other than a guardian supervising a child under 12.

  • Can I bring my kids?
Sure thing! Splatter painting is a great activity for a family! Or just the kids! A full-paying participant may bring up to two children under 5 with them to share the same paint and same canvas. Example 1: an adult could bring a 2 year old and a 4 year old with them and pay for one session. Example 2: an adult could bring a 2 year old, 4 year old and 5 year old and pay for one session. The adult is supervising rather than painting. In both scenarios, 3 people would paint on the same canvas and use the same paint. Subject to availability if you wanted to purchase extra canvas and extra paint for them you can on the day. But if you want all children to have canvases and paint and not miss out on a spot - book them in! Children under 5 have access to free paper if you don't want them touching your canvas!
  • I'm worried about my child throwing paint everywhere in the studio. Will you ask me to leave?
Provided your child is not throwing paint at people, you're all good! Kaboo is the place where you can let your child be a child and make a mess. Children are welcome to paint on their canvas, the walls and the floor! And you don't need to clean up their mess. If your children are like ours, you will have to clean paint off their face and hands at the end of the session but we provide wipes and cloths for that. We do ask that you supervise your children and be considerate of other participants who would also like to have space to create and splash paint at their canvas.
  • Can I drop off my child?
All children aged 12 and under must be supervised by a person aged 16 and over (no cost for guardian). Children over 5 may be dropped off during a 2 hour Canvas & Custom session which run during school holidays.
  • I'm bringing my child, do I have to paint?
Each participant 5 and over is required to purchase a studio session which includes a canvas, paint and a take home box. Up to two children under 5 are free with the purchase of a studio session if they will use the same canvas and paint as the paying participant. Children under 12 must be supervised by a parent or guardian (one parent for a group of children is fine). This parent does not need to participate.
